The waters off Guam were the scene of a major naval incident, when four US warships opened fire on two Chinese warships that had entered the US’s territorial waters without permission. The incident began when the Chinese warships, a Type 052D guided-missile destroyer and a Type 054A guided-missile frigate, were detected sailing near Guam.
