Multi-Million Dollar Homes Completely Trashed by Hurricane Ian

Multi-Million dollar homes in the Barefoot Beach neighborhood in Bonita Springs were completely trashed by Hurricane Ian in Florida.

As the historic storm surge came plowing through the area, it collapsed the “break-away” walls in these homes and made quick work of garage doors. Through these openings, the surge ripped cars and other personal belongings from the homes, tossing them hundreds of feet inland.

Despite the massive amounts of damage, it does make you appreciate the structural engineering that went into designing these homes. The break-away walls performed exactly as intended, which is to intentionally fall down to let the water flow through the home without so much pressure on the overall structure. Not one home in Barefoot Beach was fully destroyed or toppled over. In fact, walking into the second story of most homes, you’d never know anything happened.
