DIY candy kits (aka Popin Cookin) are long gone from YouTube but they seem to be having a revival on Shorts and TikTok. I’ve seen several super viral clips of these Sumikko Gurashi kits being made. The original clip was narrated in Chinese so it was almost certainly a reposted video from Douyin. However it had millions of views proving that there’s a new generation of viewers fascinated by how these work. I find this one extra satisfying because you get a shiny, jiggly jelly without the need for any heating or cooling. While browsing Amazon Japan, I stumbled on these kits and had to order them. They actually come in a set of 8 which was incredible good value and the shipping was extremely fast.
