Sieya Suzuki and Christopher Morel both hit two-run HRs vs the Reds on Thursday, but the Cubs’ pitching staff gave the runs right back. The Reds took game one of the four game series 8-4 at Great American Ballpark.

Javier Assad allowed 5 earned runs and took the loss on Thursday, he hasn’t pitched through the 6th inning since May 15th. Anthony Pasquale talked about how you couldn’t expect Assad to keep up his stellar pace all season long, but his recent struggles coming at the same time as Shota Imanaga’s has been difficult for the Cubs to overcome as of late.
