Today in Ukraine As of May 14th, 2023 the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is ongoing and has been for 445 days. Russian missiles have struck the city of Ternopil which is home to the pop music group Tvorchi. However, earlier this week Russia expended one of its hypersonic Kinzhal missiles in a bid to try and eliminate a US made Patriot missile system. Instead, a Patriot missile destroyed Russia’s premier missile  affirming the effectiveness of Ukrainian defenses. The conflict has also resulted in downing of two Russian jets and two helicopters which may have been a friendly fire mishap. Ukrainian president Zelensky has promised that the much awaited “Spring Offensive” will begin soon. Meanwhile some analysts estimate Russian losses at around two hundred thousand troops.
