A wealthy lobbyist has given Evelyn Cable $600,000 and the mission to “make politicians say what they mean.” For Evelyn, it’s a dream come true, but she’s only got four months to pull it off. She quickly hires two employees – Wally Murdoch, a print shop worker who has an unhealthy relationship with words and Jameson Conway a former academic with an expertise in mathematically parsing information. Together they confront two presidential candidates who are afraid to say anything divisive.
As their organization stumbles forward, the three of them look for meaning in different ways. Wally’s philosophical approach and Jameson’s scientific efforts find some strange similarities. But, neither approach is what Evelyn had in mind and in the end, she’s the boss. At least for now.
With this unlikely trio at the helm, The Stating Facts Initiative tries to change the system without being swallowed up in the process. And without losing who they are.
