Angel Hernandez makes questionable call, broadcaster declares MLB ump in ‘midseason form’
The latest season of “The Ump Show” has returned to a TV screen near you.
Angel Hernandez has not seen his shadow, meaning baseball season is right around the corner, and with the spring training schedule officially on Sunday, everyone has some rust to knock off — including controversial, long-tenured MLB ump Hernandez.
A questionable strike call at the bottom of the zone during the Cardinals-Nationals matchup led to Cardinals’ announcer Dan McLaughlin letting a good ol’ one timer rip:
“Angel Hernandez is in midseason form,” McLaughlin jests.
While questionable, Hernandez’s call was (shockingly) seemingly right one, with the pitch just missing the bottom edge of the zone. Cardinals pitcher Jack Flaherty didn’t seem too pleased with the call, but the frame job by St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina made it look a little better than it was.
Nothing unites Baseball Twitter quite like a poor Hernandez call, and that was the case on Sunday, even if spring training games just started:
*Blown call behind the plate*
Announcer – “Anddd Angel Hernandez is in mid-season form already”

Nolan Arenado being a victim of Angel Hernandez to start off his season sounds about right

Sadly, Angel Hernandez is consistently bad in the beginning of the season, mid season, end of the season, and the post season.
